One of my good friends came to visit me in the middle of December. We've known each other a little less than a year, but she's become like a sister to me and has really been a life-saver in this journey so far.
Unfortunately her visit was short, but we did a lot and had a lot of fun. Thursday morning she went with me to language school and was even more confused than I usually am so that boosted my confidence in language a little bit! haha ;-) After language we went with one of my friends to eat lunch at a nice little restaurant. We had tom yam, kai jeow, and spicy noodles with basil that we had never had before. That turned out to be my favorite :) After we finished eating we went to a Buddhist Temple, Wat Pho. It is known for the giant reclining Buddha that is housed in one of the buildings. Here are a few pictures.
After the temple we went back to my apartment and waited for some of my Thai friends to meet us for dinner. We had Isaan food that was amazing, som tam, tom yam, sticky rice, and two pork dishes.
Friday we went to the Erawan Shrine. It gives a more accurate depiction of Thai Buddhism than the temple because the temple is so much of a tourist attraction that not many people go to worship there. After that we went to the Baiyoke Tower, which is an 84 story hotel that has a viewing deck where you can see the whole city. Here are some pictures.

Saturday we went to the huge weekend market. Neither of us enjoy shopping, so we went in got what she wanted and got out pretty quick. There's a big park near the market so we sat and walked around in the park for a little while before getting lunch at one of my favorite restaurants.
That's most of the stuff we actually went out and did, but it was so much better just being able to hang out with her and talk with her (in person).
AGREED!!! It was soooo much better to sit and talk with you in person :) I'm really missing you today, if you couldn't tell by my messages in other places ;) Love you a lot!
